Since making his international debut in 2021, Fazalhaq Farooqi has emerged as one of Afghanistan’s leading fast bowlers across all formats. The left-arm pacer, known for his ability to swing the ball both ways, has been a consistent performer for his national team. However, it was at the T20 World Cup 2024 that he truly made his mark, finishing as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 17 scalps in eight matches, alongside India’s Arshdeep Singh. His contributions were instrumental in Afghanistan’s historic run to the semi-finals. Before his IPL breakthrough with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2022, Farooqi gained experience as a net bowler for Punjab Kings in 2020 and later for Chennai Super Kings in 2021. He was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2025 for INR 2 Crore, further strengthening their fast bowling attack alongside Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma.
