After consistent performances since the inaugural edition of the IPL, India’s star opener Shikhar “Gabbar” Dhawan returned to his hometown to bolster the Delhi Capitals’ batting unit in 2019. Dhawan was brought in by Delhi Capitals in a trade-off with Sunrisers Hyderabad after the auctions. Dhawan, a consistent run-getter in the competition, was crucial in SRH's run to the final of IPL 2018. In 2019, Dhawan scored over 520 runs and then followed it up with 618 runs in IPL 2020, where he also became the first batsman in the tournament’s history to score two successive hundreds. IPL 2021 will present him with another opportunity to stamp his authority in his typically aggressive fashion against both pace and spin. With close to 5200 runs in the IPL, the swashbuckling left-hander will be crucial to Delhi Capitals’ fortunes.
