IPL 2017 kick starts amidst grandeur and fervor

Amidst a packed house here in Hyderabad, the 2017 VIVO IPL kick started with a bang. The Rajiv Gandhi cricket stadium donned a sea of orange as fans flocked the arena to witness their favorite stars in action. But before the main event, it was time to commemorate an iconic landmark in the history of the IPL. Being its 10th year, a video recap of the nine glorious years gone by was played on the big screen.
Present on the momentous occasion were legends of the game – Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman who took a joy ride on a golf cart waving to the thousands who cleared their throats for them. They then took to the dais were they were felicitated with mementos by the chairman of the COA, Vinod Rai, BCCI Interim president, CK Khanna, Interim Hon. secretary Amitabh Chaudhary and the IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla. Laxman, Ganguly, Sehwag and Tendulkar spoke about the evolution of the IPL over the years and how it had benefitted the game.
Captains of the defending champions & runners-up from the previous edition, then put the IPL Trophy into play and pledged to play in the right spirit of the game. The event was headlined by the KM Music Conservatory and ended with a sparkling performance by Amy Jackson who grooved to some latest Bollywood Chartbusters.
