Bowling legends have a field day

Training under the watchful eyes of Ray Jennings, Venkatesh Prasad and Anil Kumble, the Royal Challengers from Bangalore are ready to pose a formidable challenge to the Royals of Rajasthan.

Riding on the high of their win against Kings XI Punjab in an away game in Mohali earlier in the week, RCB will be keen to carry forth the momentum by beating the home team. Turning up for practice under lights for their late evening game today, the Royal Challengers sweated it out at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The upbeat mood in the camp was evident as the players went about their business, whether it was playing a good warm-up game of football, fielding, bowling or batting. Having arrived in the city a couple of days before the game, few of the players also visited Ajmer earlier today.

Towards the fag end of the session, KP Appanna practiced bowling under the tutorship of former India player Venkatesh Prasad, who also called upon legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble to give a few tips to the youngster.

Even as the seniors guided the youngsters in the team, they couldn’t resist bowling a few balls themselves. After sharing a few tips with Appanna, Kumble took the ball and sent some deliveries down the pitch. He was joined by another legend of the same era, Muthiah Muralitharan. The two spin greats enjoying bowling in same team colours, was a sight to behold. Not one to be left behind, Prasad too joined in the party.

The mentor, the veteran and the coach; the only one missing the group was RCB skipper, Daniel Vettori, who was at the adjacent nets. A healthy mix of experience and youth, this is one team capable of penetrating the Rajasthan Royals’ fortress.
