showcased a dominant bowling performance that restricted   to just 145. KL Rahul's decision to bowl first paid off as Mohsin Khan and Marcus Stoinis quickly removed key players Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, curbing MI's scoring chances early in the game. Despite valiant efforts from Ishan Kishan (32 off 36), Wadhera (46 off 41), and Tim David (35* off 18), LSG's disciplined bowling held MI to under 150 runs, setting a target of 145 for LSG.

In response, LSG faced a challenging chase but ultimately succeeded, securing a win in the final over of the match. Marcus Stoinis starred with a dynamic 68 off 45 balls, while his pivotal 50-run partnership with KL Rahul provided much-needed stability. Although MI's bowlers gave it their all, Nicky P. held his nerve, playing a crucial role in LSG's four-wicket victory. This win elevated LSG to third in the standings, bolstering their playoff aspirations as they aim to finish the league stages strongly.

Hardik Pandya, MI Skipper: "I think losing early wickets is tough to recover from and that's what we couldn't do it. You have to see the ball and hit. We just missed those balls and got out. Just that you got to give it your all. A lot of things to learn from this game and it has been fantastic. I think Wadhera did good last year as well."

KL Rahul, LSG Skipper: "We still had batters in the middle including an experienced Pooran and KP. The pitch was a bit dry. 165-170 would have made it a competitive total. It takes some time to adjust to this wicket but our bowlers did well and put pressure on them. Happy to get those two points. We need to gain momentum in the back end of the tournament. Mayank had some pain in his sides. We need to take care of him and we are giving him a free hand."

Marcus Stoinis is the player of the match
Marcus Stoinis: "Nice to bowl with the new ball and I didn't expect to bowl three in the powerplay. Thought the wicket was okay but it was a little tricky. It was a dragged-down delivery which I got out to and was disappointing to get out. This is my third year and I have built close bonds with the franchise here as everything is good here."

Pitch Report:

Graeme Swann and Aaron Finch: "It's a used pitch as we identified by the footmarks. 66m square - shorter side, the pockets are about 71m, straight down the ground it is 76m. 163 was the score here last time and they defended it. That should give the bowlers a lot of confidence. There is a little bit of grass on the surface and as we come down the strip a little bit more, you see some bare patches. I expect it to be on the slower side. Expect the ball to spin and hold in the wicket a little bit more. There's a bit of a breeze tonight. It is bowler's night."

TOSS UPDATE:   WON THE TOSS AND ELECTED TO BOWL

KL Rahul   Skipper : "We've opted to bowl first. The pitch looks good, and we want to put their batsmen under pressure and chase down the target. We're aiming to maintain balance and put on a good performance. We've made some changes in the team. Mayank Yadav is back, and we're eager to get him on the field. He's worked hard to recover from his injury, and we're pushing him to play confidently. He's crucial for us, especially in the bowling department."

Hardik Pandya Skipper : "It's okay. We would've preferred to bowl first as well. The pitch seems a bit slow, and we'll see how it behaves. We need to focus on the basics and control what we can. Each game is crucial for us, so we're taking it one match at a time. Coetzee comes in for Wood. Despite the injuries and changes, we always believe in our abilities when we step onto the field."
