CSK - 38/1 (7.6 rpo, 4x4, 0x6) ll SRH - 31/1 in 18.1 overs (9.8 rpo, 2x4, 2x6)

Pat Cummins flipped the coin, and  chose to bowl first at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. The sluggish pitch surprised , who could only manage 165/5 despite a fiery 45 from Shivam Dube. Openers failed to adapt, but Shivam Dube's knock provided a spark. Enter SRH's reply! Abhishek Sharma's 12-ball 37 turned the Powerplay into a party, setting a record-breaking 78/1 score.
CSK's bowlers? More like leaky faucets with an 8.25 economy rate! While Head-Markram waltzed to a 50-run stand, a late cameo from Nitish Kumar Reddy sealed the deal. Bhuvi and Nattu kept things tight with their economical spells, though Moeen Ali provided a glimmer of hope for CSK with two wickets. This dominant display by SRH showcases their adaptability, securing a convincing 6-wicket victory and their second consecutive home win. Looks like the Orange Army is just getting warmed up, while the Yellow Lions need to find their mojo back, fast!

Ruturaj Gaikwad   Captain: "The pitch was on the slower side. In the last five overs, their bowling tightened, limiting our scoring. Midway, we were set for a strong finish, but they executed well in the end.It was a black soil pitch, expected to be slow. As the game progressed, the ball slowed down more, affecting our late innings surge. They played the conditions better on their end.Our start with the ball wasn't ideal, with a dropped catch and a costly over. Nonetheless, extending the match to the 18th over was commendable. A score around 170-175 would've been competitive. A stronger start could've tilted the game in our favor. Dew appeared later, but it didn't significantly alter conditions, as seen with Moeen's spin."

Pat Cummins  Skipper "The pitch, made of different soil, did slow down as the match progressed, working to our advantage. With Shivam striking well against spin, we leaned on our pace attack.Securing the points was pivotal. Watching Abhishek bat is a delight; I'm glad I'm not on the receiving end of his batting. We encourage him to play freely, and it's fantastic to witness. The audience was electrifying, especially with MS Dhoni's entrance. With five more games here, we're aiming for a clean sweep."

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: ABHISHEK SHARMA

Abhishek Sharma: "Noticing the pitch's slowness, we aimed to capitalise during the powerplay. Our pre-IPL preparations gave us insights into such conditions. Big scores are crucial, and today, I just flowed with the game, aiming to carry this form forward. My performance today is a testament to the hard work and guidance from my father, Yuvraj Singh, and Brian Lara."

Welcome to the 18th match of the IPL, folks, and buckle up for a spicy showdown that's hotter than a vindaloo on a sweltering evening! The Sunrisers Hyderabad, battling a case of the yips at the crease (all starts, no big scores) and a bowling attack that's as reliable as a fidget spinner, are hungry to snap their losing streak. But standing in their way are the mighty Chennai Super Kings, still licking their wounds from their first defeat this season. This Hyderabad pitch, though, could throw a real bouncer.

Forget the usual six-fests Hyderabad has witnessed this season – that black soil might morph into a spinner's paradise, leaving CSK's new ball wizards, used to their zippy swing, with a case of the wobbly seam. Don't expect those clean hitters to have it easy either; they'll need to be on their toes for some surprise doosras and slower balls that could leave them bamboozled like a rabbit in the headlights.

This match is as hard to predict as a googly gone right. Will CSK's experience and championship pedigree rise to the occasion, or will the Orange Army, fueled by the roar of the home crowd, pull off a heist? The key lies in who reads the pitch quicker and adapts their batting like a chameleon. One team might come out swinging for the fences, while the other might need to play the sheet anchor role and build a platform. Don't blink for a second, folks, because this match promises fireworks – the kind that could see boundaries raining down like monsoon showers or a nail-biting finish that goes down to the wire, leaving everyone on the edge of their seats.

Head-To-Head in IPL    VS

Stats at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium:

Pitch Report :

Samuel Badree and Brian Lara at the Pitch Report: Badree: "We're feeling the buzz here at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, ready for an electrifying southern derby between CSK and SRH. The dimensions are interesting here; one side's a bit longer, with square boundaries under 70 meters and longer straight hits. Records were shattered last week on this ground. Joining me is Brian Lara. What do you make of it?"

Lara: "Looks like we've got a different pitch today, but it's ripe for scoring. There are some visible cracks, though I doubt they'll impact the game significantly. The skipper who wins the toss would likely opt to bat, eyeing a hefty score. We could be looking at a match where even 10 runs an over might not suffice. In my view, anything less than 200 might fall short on this fabulous batting wicket. Expect a bit of pace for the quicks initially, but overall, it's a dream track for batters."

TOSS UPDATE:   WON THE TOSS AND CHOOSE TO FIELD

Pat Cummins |  Skipper: "We've opted to field first. The pitch looks promising and should hold up well throughout the game. We're still adapting to the new impact player rule, but with the depth in our squad, we aim for consistent performance."

Ruturaj Gaikwad |   Skipper: "Everything's been pretty solid so far. Sure, the last match didn't go our way, but it was a tight contest. The team's morale is high, which is crucial. Leadership isn't new to me, so there's no drastic change in approach. I aim to stay relaxed and perform at my peak. Indeed, we're without Fizz, and Pathirana is dealing with a minor issue. Thus, Theekshana and Mukesh are stepping in.
