Winning the toss proved advantageous for the Capitals, who initially subdued the RR lineup, quickly dismissing Jaiswal and Samson. However, a resilient stand between Riyan Parag and R Ashwin kept RR competitive. Parag's spectacular unbeaten 84, with a strike rate of 187, and Dhruv Jurel's timely cameo propelled RR to a final score of 185. Khaleel Ahmed excelled with the new ball, setting the tone early on.

Despite a brisk start by Marsh and Warner, Burger's double strike disrupted their momentum. Following this, a partnership between Pant and Warner built slowly, with Warner departing just short of a half-century. The pace faltered further after Pant's exit. Impact Player Porel couldn't make a significant dent, and despite Stubbs' late efforts, Sandeep Sharma and Avesh Khan clinched the victory for Rajasthan with composed bowling in the crucial moments

Rishabh Pant, Skipper: "Definitely disappointed. Best thing we can do from this is learn and move on. The bowlers did really well till 15-16 overs, batters sometimes go on at the death and score quickly, that happened in this game. Mitch Marsh and David Warner gave a good start, but we lost a few wickets in the middle-over phase and in the end we had to catch up. Hopefully, we can do better in the next match."

Sanju Samson, Skipper: "  The way we started, the first ten overs, we were like Rovman, be ready you might have to bat! The IPL is changing and we all have to be flexible. Earlier it was about 11 players, now it is about all 15 players. Me and Sanga had a lot of chats between the 15th and 17th before deciding on the Impact Player. It's all about gauging in which zone they are. You have to look at that and take your call. I saw Sandy was calm and Avesh was also looking good, so I went with that. Riyan Parag has been a big name in the last few years. So happy he cashed in tonight"

Riyan Parag is Player of the Match

Riyan Parag: " Emotions are settled, mother is here as well. She's seen the struggles, this feels very special. I know what my ability is and I never let that change - irrespective of whether I perform or not. A lot to do with the domestic season, where I scored a lot of runs."

The IPL 2024's 9th match is set to unfold at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where will face off against on Thursday, March 28. The Capitals are looking to rebound from an initial setback, having faced a defeat in their opening match against Punjab Kings. Batting first, DC, led by Rishabh Pant, managed to set a decent target of 175 runs in their 20 overs. A collective effort from the top order and Abishek Porel's final burst proved crucial for them. But, on the back of Sam Curran's brilliant half-century, Shikhar Dhawan and his team overcame the target with four balls to spare.

Contrastingly, kicked off their season on a high note, securing a victory against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24 in Jaipur. For the Royals, captain Sanju Samson was the key to getting them to a competitive total of 193/4. The right-handed batter smashed a blazing 82 off 52, while Riyan Parag also contributed with a 29-ball 43. Nicholas Pooran and skipper KL Rahul toiled for LSG, but an impressive bowling effort, especially from Sandeep Sharma, restricted them to 173/6. With their sights set on continuing their success streak, the Royals are gearing up for their second home game with anticipation and the determination to extend their winning momentum.

PITCH REPORT:
Simon Katich and Samuel Badree:  "It's a fresh track. 67m square boundaries on both sides and 76m down the ground. We're playing on pitch number 5 today, it is absolutely rock solid, but there are some cracks which move as you press. It means that the bounce could be low initially, it means the tactics could be similar to that of the last game. It wouldn't be surprising that the Royals could be wanting to bat first again today".

TOSS:

has won the toss and have elected to   first

Rishabh Pant, Skipper: "Wicket is fine but we want to use it when conditions are dry. Feels good to play 100 games for the same franchise but not thinking about it too much. Most of our concerns will be injury-based. We could've got the last game if Ishant's injury wasn't there. Gotta control the controllables. Ishant Sharma hasn't recovered and Shai Hope has a bad back, so two changes Nortje comes in and Mukesh Sharma comes in too."

Sanju Samson, Skipper: "  We also would've bowled first because of the dew factor. Both pitches look quite similar, this has an even covering of grass. All the teams here are very competitive. We have good players and will play good sides. Playing the same team."
