A run-fest at the Wankhede where a total of 415 runs were scored between the two sides. got off to a good start losing just one wicket in the powerplay but the bulk of the scoring was done in the death overs where Sam Curran, Harpreet Bhatia and Jitesh Sharma cut loose and accounted for 96 runs in 5 overs. Stand in Skipper Sam Curran scored 55 from 29 whereas Jitesh Sharma smashed 25 runs at a strike rate of 357 dismantling the bowling attack. Chasing 215 was never going to be easy but the MI Skipper Rohit Sharma started positively making 44 from 27 balls. But a partnership of 75 from just 36 balls between Suryakumar and Cam Green kept MI's hopes alive. MI was cruising along until Arshdeep Singh got the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav in the 18th over of the innings. Tim David did strike some lusty blows but failed to take MI home in the end. It was Arshdeep Singh who held his nerves and showed his accuracy in bowling those yorkers under pressure. The left-arm pacer finished with 4 wickets giving just 29 runs from his four.

Rohit Sharma, Skipper: "  Yes, a little disappointment there, we made some errors in the field which can happen, not gonna look too much into that. Just keep our heads high, we have won three and lost three, pretty even-stevens at the moment. There is a lot of time left in the tournament. We can't look down and start worrying about things."

Sam Curran is the Player of the Match

Sam Curran, Skipper: " Pretty special. What amazing ground. The environment is incredible here. Big positive for us. I don't think I should be getting the Man of the Match considering how the boys closed the game out there. Without Shikhar, we know we had to take that responsibility. Our group is coming together really Well."

Match No 31 of IPL 2023 will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai between and the . The home team has made a dramatic turnaround like always, winning three games after losing its first two encounters. MI although misses the services of its premium pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer, has managed to do well with the available resources. Behrendorff has looked good while Arjun Tendulkar has made a good start to his IPL career. Piyush Chawla has been the stand-out performer with the ball with 7 wickets against his name. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have taken the team off to good starts in their previous two encounters while Tilak Varma has been their highest run-getter. With Cameron Green getting some runs in the previous game, this MI batting unit looks formidable, to say the least. PBKS on the other side has not been consistent in the tournament. Out of the 6 games, they have won 3 and lost 3. The team has some big names but has failed to live up to the expectations so far. Liam Livingstone would be expected to come well if the team wants to get past a strong MI unit at their fortress. Arshdeep Singh has been in good form while Sam Curran and Nathan Ellis have complimented him well. While Shikhar Dhawan's injury is the concern, it will be interesting to see PBKS' tactics in the next game considering the impact player rule!

PITCH REPORT:
Matthew Hayden and Danny Morrison: " It is not the biggest ground going around; 65 meters on one side and 59 on the other, downtown 75. The batters will be mindful of the dimensions. It looks like a very very good batting track but the fast men could be the ones to watch out for tonight. It is a great ground to bat on and it is a chasing ground".

TOSS:-
wins the toss and elects to  first!

Rohit Sharma, Skipper: "  We are going to have a bowl first. Really nice to have some wins under the belt, winning is always nice and the atmosphere is good but the job is not done. Quite surprisingly nice and pleasant. Looking forward to this game. We have had some injuries but Jofra is back and that is the only change. Wankhede is a good pitch to bat on and it gets better as the game goes on, hopefully we restrict them and chase it down later."

Sam Curran, Skipper: "Back-to-back games and not much time to think about it. No Shikhar, that's why I am here but he's recovering and should be back soon. Great opportunity for the others to put their hand and we are going with the same team"
