A dominating win for the Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai. got the team to a flying start accumulating 61 runs in the powerplay. Both Ishan Kishan & Rohit Sharma got starts but failed to capitalize on the same. Spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner brought about a shift in the momentum running past the MI top & middle order. Left-arm spin accounted for 5 wickets between them giving away only 48 runs in 8 overs. A cameo of 31 from Tim David helped MI get to a respectable total of 157 which was always a tough one to defend against a deep batting lineup of . Jason Behrendorff provided the early breakthrough that MI needed but Ajinkya Rahane had different plans. The local boy smashed a 19-ball fifty and took the game away from the Mumbai Indians within the powerplay. Rahane scored 61 off 27 while Ruturaj played second fiddle remaining unbeaten on 40. In the end, CSK won the game comfortably by 7 wickets and 11 balls to spare!

Rohit Sharma, MI Skipper: "We lost our way in the middle and did not capitalize on the start we got. It was a good pitch and we were about 30-40 runs short. Have to give credit to their spinners, they bowled well and kept us under pressure. You need to try out different things, you need to attack and be brave. We have got a couple of young guys on the side and we got to give some time to them. They have real talent and we have to back them and show trust in their ability. The senior guys need to step up starting with me. We know the nature of this tournament, when the tournament starts we need to get some momentum and when we don't it is tough to get going. Just two games and all is not lost still. If you win, you can win a few on the trot, and when you lose it is hard to come out of that momentum. ."

MS DHONI, CSK Skipper: "It was not easy after losing Deepak Chahar in the first over,  He is our new ball bowler and Mangala is playing his first match. The good thing is spinners bowled well and got us the game. It was a bit two-paced after 7 overs and started turning as well.  Mangala was good and so was Pretorious in their second spells. Also, Deshpande, We believe in his abilities and when you're new you are under pressure but playing in the IPL for a few years brings different pressure. He had a great domestic season, he is improving. I and Ajinkya Rahane spoke at the start of the season and I told him to play to his strengths and use his ability to manipulate the fields. I told him to go and enjoy himself, don't take the stress and we'll back him. That is exactly what he did."

RAVINDRA JADEJA is the Player of the Match

Ravindra Jadeja: "When we were bowling, the odd ball was turning. So I and Mitch wanted to bowl in good areas because they have so many power hitters. Every time we come here, the wicket plays differently, sometimes it is flat, and sometimes it is sticky. I and Santner discuss everything and whoever starts advises the other person on what lengths to bowl. We keep talking and advising each other."

Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the biggest clash in the TATA IPL, where the Chennai Super Kings  take on the Mumbai Indians  in the El-Classico of Indian Premier League ! CSK and Thala Dhoni head into the match on the back of a win at Chepauk. Mumbai on the other hand have played only one match so far in the tournament and will look to register their first victory of the tournament tonight.

Head to Head:-

The Rohit Sharma led side have had the advantage at Wankhede, winning 7 of the 10 games against CSK there. However, in the last 3 seasons the Head to Head between these two giants is 3-3 each. Who will turn out on top today?

Pitch Report :-

Ian Bishop: "Short leg-side boundary for the right-hander, just 63m and the fine-leg boundary is just 54m. Expect a lot of ramps today. The average score here in 2022 was 167, but teams will be hoping for more than that on a ground with these dimensions. There is a lot of grass, all the way through but no clear big patches, so the ball might do a little bit earlier. Hoping for a really good cricket match."

DHONI HAS CALLED IT RIGHT AT THE TOSS AND CSK WILL FIELD FIRST!

MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings Captain: "We will bowl first. One of the most memorable venues, not only the 2011 win but when we won in 2007, when we came back the reception we got was great. We have a few injury concerns, Stokes has an injury, Mo is not available. Ajinkya and Pretorius are playing. These are the two changes we have made."

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians Captain: "It's a good pitch, always a good pitch to bat. Always something in it for the bowlers, and we just have to play good cricket. We have been really well in the last few days, spoke about what went wrong in our last game in Bangalore, hopefully we can get the result tonight. Unfortunately we have got an injury, I would not call it an injury but it is just a precaution - Jofra is not playing, we have got the other guys. It is a great feeling to be back at the Wankhede. The crowds have always been loud, look forward to playing in front of our home crowd."
