Mumbai Indians wins this match by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets and 31 balls to spare! MI won the toss and decided to bowl first. Daniel Sams (3/16) for MI picked two wickets in the first over and the bowlers kept on putting pressure on CSK by harvesting wickets in regular intervals. MS Dhoni held one end and put up 36 runs. The total was 97 in the end as all the batters were dismissed within the 16th over. In the second innings, CSK picked four wickets in the powerplay and put up pressure straight away, but the stand from Tilak Varma (34* off 32) and the cameo from Tim David (16* off 7) steered the team to victory in the fifteenth over!

MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings Captain: "Irrespective of how the wicket is, anything below 130 is difficult to defend, but what I asked the bowlers was to show a lot of character and forget about the result. Both the young fast bowlers bowled really well and I feel a game like this really helps them in believing in themselves that irrespective of the conditions, whenever we start we need to have the same kind of attitude and that's what is needed in the shortest format. We have gone through periods where we never really had that extraordinary bench of fast bowlers. Also fast bowlers they take their time to mature, if you are lucky you get somebody who can feature in all formats in six months time and that is what IPL is doing and it is an opportunity for a lot of them."

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians Captain: "Looking at how the pitch was playing and to lose wickets upfront, there were tense moments in the middle. It was just about keeping calm and getting the job done. We were a little calm and got the job done in the end. We have played a lot of cricket here. We've had pitches like this. It's nice to get bowlers into the game as well at times. It's been batting-friendly all over, it was good to see bounce and swing from both sides which was good to watch. We want to win games and at the same time we try out certain players. There are options that we still want to try."

Daniel Sams is the Player of the Match

Daniel Sams: "The first few games didn't go to plan. Had a little bit of time to reflect on those performances. I just figured out that I was focusing on the batter too much and not on my strengths. We have different plans for different batters. The whole IPL, beautiful wickets to bowl on. It's been enjoyable, today's pitch was bowling-friendly."

TOSS:-

Mumbai Indians have won the toss and will field first.

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians Captain: "We will field first. It's the nature of the ground, and what suits our team. Nothing has worked for us this season. Keep an eye on the future, Pollard is out and Stubbs is in. Shokeen comes in for Ashwin. We want to try out a few players, got to see what they have to offer. Looks a good track, hope it plays well throughout the 40 overs. It's brilliant to play against Chennai, it's always like that."

MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings Captain: "It has worked for us, batting first. We are playing with the same team. Someone like a Jaddu, he is one of those who helps us try out combinations. When a lot of is at stake, you need to do the homework and focus on the process, irrespective of the opposition."
