The versatile Afghan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai made waves in Afghanistan’s U19 setup, starring in the 2018 U19 World Cup with 66 runs and 7 wickets. Omarzai played a key role in Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal run, scoring 87 runs and taking 6 wickets. He first stepped into the IPL spotlight when Gujarat Titans (GT) signed him for INR 50 lakh at the 2024 auction. His IPL debut came against Mumbai Indians in 2024, where he took 2/27. In that edition, he impressed with a brisk 33 off 20 against Delhi Capitals, hinting at his finishing potential. Punjab Kings secured him for INR 2.4 Crore after a bidding war with Chennai Super Kings at the 2025 TATA IPL Auction.
