Profile
| Birth Date | 17 April 1972 |
| IPL debut | 2008 |
The most successful bowler in international cricket, the wily Sri Lankan off-spinner, who often battled questions over the legality of his bowling action, picked up 1,347 wickets in his international career – over 300 more than the second-best, Shane Warne. Murali has an unorthodox action for an off-spinner; he uses more of his rubber-like wrists than his fingers, and gets the ball to turn on almost all surfaces. An integral part of the Chennai Super Kings line-up in the first three seasons of the IPL, the 40-year-old was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL Player Auction 2011. With 15 wickets at a niggardly 6.5 runs per over, Murali proved, in IPL 2012, his wizardry hasn’t left him yet.
