Even during his U-19 days, Mohammad Kaif's maturity, composure, understanding and assessment of the game were said to be beyond his years; he was even touted as a future captain. Kaif was part of the team that won the ICC 2000 U-19 World Cup. He spent a lot of time at the National Cricket Academy and scored consistently in domestic competitions to earn his India Test cap when he was only 20. With the bat, Kaif relies more on placement and timing to score his runs. He is one of the new breed of Indian cricketers who have exceptional fielding abilities. Kaif was instrumental in Rajasthan Royals’ title win in 2008. He was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL Player Auction 2011.
