No cricketer has stirred as much passion among Indian cricket followers as Sourav Ganguly. Often credited with being the architect of aggression in the modern Team India, Ganguly is one of the most successful Indian captains. As soon as he took charge of the team, he made bold decisions and took Indian cricket to new heights. Although Ganguly made his international debut in 1992, his career didn’t take off until 1996. But once it did, there was no looking back. He scored a century on Test debut at Lord’s, and followed it up with a century at Trent Bridge. He would go on to become one of the most successful batsmen in international cricket and was one half of the most successful opening pair in one-day cricket alongside Sachin Tendulkar. Dada, as he is fondly called, was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders for the first three seasons, before the Pune Warriors roped him in as their player-cum-mentor during IPL 2011. He will continue to represent the Pune franchise in IPL 2012.
