Rahul Sharma belongs to the new generation of Indian cricketers who have benefitted from the IPL. The tall 26-year-old from Jalandhar isn’t an orthodox leg-spinner; he delivers the ball with a high-arm action, bowls flat and only occasionally gets the ball to turn. He relies heavily on bounce – often drawing comparisons with Anil Kumble. Sharma was initially signed by the Deccan Chargers. He was roped in by the Pune Warriors before IPL 2011 and performed very well that year. He even made it to the Indian team on the back of his IPL success.
