Pragyan Ojha’s roots in representative cricket can be traced to Orissa – the team he turned out for during his U-15 days. However, when the time came for him to play senior cricket, he chose to move to Hyderabad. A left-arm orthodox spinner, Ojha is one of the few bowlers who have consistently withstood the challenges presented by Twenty20 cricket. The 26-year-old was with the Deccan Chargers during the first four seasons of the IPL, but was transferred to the Mumbai Indians before IPL 2012. Thanks to his consistent performances – which include winning the Purple Cap (presented to the leading wicket-taker in the league stages of the IPL season) – Ojha earned a place in the Indian team and has since become a key weapon in the team’s bowling attack.
