| IPL debut | 2008 |
This aggressive batsman, who played for the Delhi Daredevils in the first two seasons of the IPL, was traded to the Kolkata Knight Riders before the 2010 edition. While not retaining him before the IPL Player Auction 2011, KKR did buy him back for USD 475,000 at the auction. Tiwary was one of the top three scorers for the Knight Riders during IPL 2011. His good run continued as he struck his maiden ODI century in the five-match series against West Indies at home. He also led Bengal in the 2011-12 Ranji Trophy and scored three centuries – including a career best 267 – in four matches. With Gambhir and Kallis, Tiwary formed a formidable top-order in IPL 2012 to delight his fellow Bengalies with a much awaited title triumph.
