Son of former English opener Chris Broad, Stuart too was planning on becoming an opening batsman before he discovered pace bowling. A medium-pace bowler who can often surprise batsmen with his raw speed – thanks to his skiddy action – Broad is also a very handy lower-order batsman. Broad has outstanding bowling strike-rates in both the 50-over and the 20-over versions of the game. Kings XI Punjab signed him at the IPL Player Auction 2011, but he had to sit out IPL 2011 due to an injury. He will be hoping to make his IPL debut when he turns up for the Mohali franchise in IPL 2012.
