Ross Taylor is an attacking batsman – especially in the shortest version of the game. The New Zealand captain has the skills and temperament to succeed in the longer version as well. A powerful striker of the cricket ball, Taylor gave ample evidence of his scoring abilities during his stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first three seasons of the IPL. A batting strike-rate of close to 150 only confirms that he can win matches single-handedly – just like he did against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2009 when he scored an unbeaten 81 off 33 balls. Taylor also bowls occasional off-breaks and is a good fielder. The 28-year-old was signed by the Rajasthan Royals at the IPL Player Auction 2011, but was transferred to the Delhi Daredevils prior to IPL 2012. Although he suffered a calf injury recently, he is expected to recover in time for IPL 2012.
