Profile

| IPL debut | 2011 |
A regular in Sri Lanka’s team, Nuwan Kulasekara is a fine fast bowler to have in a limited-overs XI. He bowls at a good pace, knows how to play with the seam and is a decent exponent of the reverse swing. His accuracy of line and length only adds to his value as a bowler. Kulasekara made his international debut in 2003, in an ODI against England and took 2 for 19 to help dismiss the opponents for 88. Handy with the bat in the lower-order, Kulasekara has a couple of fifties in the ODIs and one in Test. The Sri Lankan joined the Chennai Super Kings squad in 2011 and although the team’s strong overseas contingent means his chances are limited, Kulasekara remains a good option for Dhoni to turn to.
