Talent Hunt

The question that the whole country is pondering over is the success of a team that was considered to be the weakest in the tournament. With a good mix of Indian domestic players in their ranks, the team from Jaipur have utilized their resources to its optimum use. The youngsters who had one-on-one psychological sessions with former English spinner Jeremy Snape have impressed all with their skilful play and the amount of maturity exhibited. The pint-sized Swapnil Asnodkar who plays for the liitle-known Goa side has shown his abilities at the top with South African skipper Graeme Smith.

Ravindra Jadeja freshly drafted into the side after the Under-19 World Cup success has batted like a seasoned cricketer. Young Niraj Patel has shown that one can still succeed in T20 with technique and traditional cricketing shots.

Biggest Disappointments
Dinesh Salunkhe was eagerly looked forward to as the next spinner in line. With his mentor Shane Warne leading the side, one would have expected the young spinner to shine too. But barring his maiden IPL wicket of Mahela Jayawardena, he has failed to perform.

Mohammad Kaif is one of the most experienced members in the team and his role was to lend stability to the middle order. The former India star has failed to live up to expectations and under such a scenario, his place in the national side for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh is under tremendous threat.

Bugbear
Rajasthan Royals have an enviable record of winning all their games at home. However, it's their away performance which they need to iron out in order to lift the title. Shane Warne has expressed reservations about the semis and finals being hosted at neutral venues. Like their opening game, the Royals lost their final league match and ended their campaign on a losing note.

Standout Performance
Sohail Tanvir bowled everyone over with his fantastic spell of 6/14 that scuttled Chennai for a paltry 109. The wrong-footed Pakistani is now topping the bowling charts with 21 wickets from just nine games. Many considered this format to be dominated by batsmen but with his superb bowling performance, Tanvir has proved that Twenty20 is not just the batsman's game that people think.

Trivia

1. The Rajasthan Royals are the only franchise in the IPL to have the same individual as a skipper and the coach of the team. Shane Warne is the man in the dual role.

2. The Royals won all of their seven home games during the league stage of the IPL.
