To be led by Tendulkar is a great achievement: Bravo
16th May 2008
Dwayne Bravo has rescued the Mumbai Indians from some crucial plights during the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) where they desperately needed a win to stay alive in the tournament. Now with their feet back on the gas, Mumbai are in contention for a semi-final berth.
But Bravo will not get to reap the benefits of his team for too long as he will soon join the West Indies team for their home tour against Australia. In an exclusive interview, Bravo talks about the IPL atmosphere and playing under the great Sachin Tendulkar.
He described the carnival-like atmosphere of the IPL similar to the way cricket is played back home in the West Indies saying, "It's similar - the atmosphere in the IPL is very good and similar to the way we play back home. I'm happy to be a part of it."
He added that he was looking forward to the next few games and hoping to enjoy them before he leaves the IPL to face-off against the Aussies.
Bravo played some vital knocks for Mumbai in the absence of their skipper Sachin Tendulkar. But the West Indian all-rounder said that the feeling of sharing the dressing room with Sachin Tendulkar was "a dream come true".
He mentioned that he has bowled to the Master Blaster in ODIs as and when their teams squared up against each other but he never imagined he would play under Tendulkar's captaincy.
"Playing under Tendulkar's captaincy is a great achievement," said Bravo.
Mumbai will need Bravo's expertise as they go up against the buoyant Kolkata Knight Riders tomorrow at the Wankhede Stadium.
